Reiki

REI (ray) Universal Life Energy, Spiritual Consciousness, All-Knowing KI (kee) Breath, Life Force, Vital Radiant Energy Reiki is an ancient laying-on of hands healing technique that uses the life force energy to heal, balancing the subtle energies within our bodies. Reiki addresses physical, emotional, mental and spiritual imbalances. This healing art is an effective delivery system. The Reiki practitioner serves as a vessel that supplies healing energies where they are most needed. Reiki's ki-energies flow out of the practitioner's body through the palms of the hands while they are touching the recipient's body. Reiki is often included in massage but it is not a type of massage. The muscles are not kneaded in a Reiki session, instead the practitioner follows various hand positions placed on or above the body. (Reiki is often done entirely without touch with the hands several inches above the body.) The client may feel warmth, tingling, energy flow, pain releasing, and deep relaxation. Many clients fall asleep during a session. During a Reiki session, the client is fully clothed. Reiki can never harm; it can only help the body to heal and to achieve proper balance. Reiki is safe for pregnant women and those recovering from surgery. Unlike massage, Reiki heals on the physical, emotional, and spiritual levels providing a deep healing in a short amount of time. For chronic conditions, multiple Reiki sessions are recommended. Reiki is excellent for pain management. Reiki is not a religion, nor is it based on the acceptance of any religious doctrine. Having a belief system is not a requirement for Reiki to work. Reiki does not infringe on anyone’s right to believe what he or she wishes. However, Reiki's principles are spiritual in nature and do encourage spiritual empowerment and growth.
